The end of this ride...

For Liam. Camping in 5 mile was great. The snow was the best of the season. And we learned lots about winter camping. 1. Bring a Write in the rain book so you can remember all the things you learned about winter camping. 2. Let the snow for your shelter settle before carving it out. 3. When it snows you may loose your shit, so keep track of it. Once again the polls have closed... and apparently willy D is a pimp yo. Pictures to follow.

Brown horse is mad at White horse...

... and there's clouds in the forecast. Today we're headed back into 5 mile basin to the base camp we set up Saturday night. Tommy is going to feed the animals, as we'll be gone for 2 days. Hopefully a large angry badger hasn't moved into my quincee overnight.

Semi stranded

So the girl who's house we're looking after had some "car troubles" in Grand Forks. Phillip subsequently drove to pick them up and take them to the airport. This has left me with lots spare time at the farm. I edited together two slightly different versions of a run Jim Z took with the helmet cam, and I'm curious which is better, I couldn't decided myself. So it's up to you "The People" to vote in the pole on the right... so VOTE! I'm off to hitch hike to the hill.

Just Eh Movie?

Yimr's Valentine is Ullr

I fell in love with another town. How could I not with the way they love the snow. Home baked pizza and hot chocolate while watching a game of pickup. Drinking beer with friends while snow sculpting and watching the locals duke it out on ghetto old Skidoo's. For nothing more then bragging rights and good times. There was also
a jump being built, and huge drop-in off the Yimr Palace for the big air comp... "a bit of a crowd pleaser" as they put it. So thanks, to Emma for throwing a rad party last night at which I met Morgan, who informed me all about the valentines festivities.

Into Thirds.... for your reading pleasure.

I split up this latest post because of the laps in time and sheer amount of stuff that has happend of late. unfortunatly none of this stuff is snow sports related. We've still been making it to the hill, there just hasn't been much in the way new snow, so there hasn't been much exciting skiing. I went to see a live production of "You're a good man, Charlie Brown" on Friday and learned a few things. Snoopy is the man (or in this case the woman), and its the clouds that make the wind blow, and the bugs that make the grass grow. Best show I've seen in years. Afterwards we went to Emma's house for a party... and party we did.

Lack of internet = Lack of communication

First and foremost, I'd like to thank Benjamin Keren and Carlos for there incredible hospetality. We stayed with them for the first part of our journey here in Nelson. Benjamin bakes delicious bread, Keren gives great hugs, and Carlos is a master of Carcasonian stratagy. Unfortunatly Phillip couldn't sleep too well with my incesent snorring. This lead us to search for more spacious accomadations. And by search, I really mean have our new place fall into our lap, like everything since arriving in Nelson. I've said it before and I'll say it again... this place is special. Now we're staying at our friend Caroline's house and watching her pets for her while she and Laurel are in Mexico. Caroline lives on Tommy and Connie's farm a way out in Blewit. Which is acctually only 15 min out of Nelson. There are peacocks, chickens, geese, horses, ducks, cows, and various other barn animals. One of which is the magical luck dragon named Miko. A very close relative to Falcor. Now lets hope that Kya, Tootsie, and Boo Radley are good while their mommy is down south.

There's snow in the forcast....

As it turns out, we had eggs Florentine, not bennys. I think Phillip likes the colour green. The holendaise sauce (from scratch) was divine, and esspecially nice with our sides of buttermilk pancakes, french toast, hashbrowns (with yams),and mimosas. After spending the afternoon at the hill, we went to The Sugar Shack for some live acoustic. What a venue, Erin, Tarynn, and Jody's house is amazing. Jody plays banjo and sings sweeter then anything I've heard to date ( http://www.missquincy.net/ ,no offence Duncan), and they served up homemade soup and pie, that was also some of the best ever. Met a gent named Tim Dennis who showed us his converted Landcruiser that he's making his way around the world in to raise awareness for www.streetkids.org . He left form Scotland and headed East. Can you say RAD, check out his website http://ramblingrat.com . Wow what a night. We topped it off with a kegger... thanks Steph...

Sunny, sunny, sunny days.

Our tans are coming along nicely. However, we're having to work much harder to get fresh turns. Today we skinned up the ridge to Prospector (which overlooks to resort... on the right ---> liamwinklestien/Prospector ). Then skied the knife edge back. Pad Thai and pizza for dinner. Eggs benny for breakfast.... Nelson is a magical place.

Tomatoe is no more

Apparently Whitewater accidently gladed through tomatoe last summer... we stopped looking and went to find some fresh backsides... hooray for hitching back to the resort, and the drivers that pick us up.
